Following an enthusictic turn out at The Dolphin this evening it was decided that the group should go forward under the banner of SYDENHAM GARDENERS. There was a discussion about what type of plants to grow and it was generally felt that colour and scent should be the first priorities.
A location was decided upon for the first ‘dig’ and a date/time was arranged. Due to the nature of this work the exact time/location/date will be kept ‘top secret’ until after the ‘dig’ has been completed. If you wish to lend a hand on the dig you will have to email us directly at sydenhamgardeners@hotmail.co.uk putting DIG 1 in the subject box to receive the dig information.
Signs will also be visible in the areas once the group have done their magic. It will state the name of the group and the website address.
There was also a discussion about the ‘Adopt-a-Station’ scheme for Sydenham Railway Station of which an official of the group has already made enquiries with Southern Railways who have respondly in favour of the scheme. An update on this will be made at the next meeting.
The meeting commenced at 8pm and ended at 9:25pm.
Can I make a suggestion? Is there a way that we could persuade the council to help make the awful roundabout ‘green’, ie. plant some flowers on the top of it. The design of it at the moment can be drastically improved upon (look at Goose Green roundabout in East Dulwich which is a well kept and colourful roundabout) and would help with the environment as well.
